Fighting Covid: Should VAs be Vaccinated?

Directly speaking, the answer is Yes. Let me tell you a story to explain why. One of our full-time VAs recently got Covid. Good thing it is just categorised as mild to moderate. She got sick at the time when her client launched a major online event where the VA was supposedly assigned to manage the event. It sounded like the sickness came at the wrong time and the wrong place. But who can blame it? That is the nature of the Covid-19 virus, and we see it everywhere these days. The devoted VA had been busy working online and had rarely gone out of the house. But her husband, who works in a sales department of a company, was often going out to work. Her husband got the symptoms and eventually, she got it too. They tested positive during the swab test and their children were required to do the swab test as a protocol. It turned out, all of them in the house, including their children, were positive with Covid. That VA said that “I know we will get through this but it is not a good feeling”. Even if she is trying to stay strong, she still feels the effects of the disease not just on her physical body but her mental and emotional health as well knowing that all of them got the disease. Of course, the client was informed and understood her situation. But because she wanted to keep her client, she had to work while experiencing the symptoms. The good thing is that the client is understanding and compassionate towards her that she often checks on her and allows her to rest every now and then. It is such an ordeal for the VA, but with the support of the client and the VE family, plus her own inner strength, she believes she will get by. We don’t want you to experience this. I am not just talking about trying to meet the expectation of the client while having symptoms, but because all of us here in VE are always concerned with your well-being. Remember that health is wealth. So far, one of the best ways to fight Covid is to be vaccinated. I know this is not a guarantee and there are many concerns about vaccinations and the vaccines available. But as one adage says, “Desperate times call for desperate measures”. It is better to get vaccinated with the possibility of protection from the virus, than not to have even slight protection at all.
